The dress code for a dentist and their teams plays a critical role in protection of the team and that of the patients. In addition, it is important for dentists in the clinic setting to be dressed professionally to enhance the patient’s experience. The cost of PPE and appropriate attire has consistently been increasing due to inflation which is currently at a level we haven’t seen since 2009. White Coat
Today the ‘white coat’ or ‘lab coat’ is a symbol of authority, helps dentists stand out among their staff and of course helps to prevent cross contamination.
Scrubs
A survey by the American Dental Association (ADA) found that 57% of survey respondents believed that wearing scrubs helped them promote unity and 44% agreed that it was good for a practice’s brand and image. Scrubs are easy to clean and allow the most comfortable movements for the dentists. Wearing scrubs to the dental setting also takes away the efforts of dressing up and choosing an outfit every day.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
PPE has always been a part of practicing oral health safely and dental hygiene practices and protocols. However, the need for the subsequent was enhanced during COVID-19. PPE includes protective clothing pieces, such as facemasks, eyewear, face shields, gloves and more. Their sole purpose is to protect you, your staff, and your patient from potential infection. They may act as a barrier between your patient and potential infection materials and your own eyes, nose, mouth and skin.
Attire, whether it includes lab coats, scrubs or PPE is a necessary purchase for dentistry practice to conduct their professional business. With the rising costs of these supplies, it is crucial to identify the right suppliers and products to maintain quality supplies at a reduced cost.
